So Androgyny was in this year; I wonder how long this trend will last. Enjoy my shots from a male/female series I created. Taking the same model and recreating their image to represent the opposite sex required the contribution of a number of people: Deonte handled the styling, Kristen White brought my makeup ideas to life, and Claire Miller with Daisy Gomez executed the modeling flawlessly.

This photo shoot went perfectly! The location, styling, model, weather, and overall ambiance worked synergistically to create a wonderful image. I have a passion for patterns and repetition. Drawing on the elements of natural beauty, signified by the trees in the distance as well as the wood and metal elements, this composition shows the melding of nature and man during a time when nature is responding to the effects of man. Notice how the lines of the composition all lead off towards the horizon and past the man made archways into nature, emphasizing the regenerative ability of man, of nature, and of our current state of global affairs.

The love of my art comes not from a model or her beauty, but from composing an image that tells a story where the focus is thrust on the designer. Clothes should remain the “model” and the model honestly is just an accessory.
When pulling together the elements for a great shoot I look for a model to represent a concept, ideally, a model to support the beauty of a garment. I photograph fashion…I shoot clothes. The pitfall of many fashion photographers revolves around their reliance on and search for a beautiful model…that is not fashion photography, that is portfolio development and headshot photography. Always remember, shoot what you love and love what you shoot.
In this series entitled ‘Garment Rack’, please observe the motion, transition, and evolution of the garment rack. The beauty, pursposefulness, and utility of this essential element. Notice how the model becomes like the garment rack while the variations observed in the series are the clothes, angles, and positions from right to left.
Always,
J

Is plastic surgery chasing print publications, or, does print publication imagery chase plastic surgery? We all stive to be better, look better, feel better. But at what point does reality stop and what we have created shifts to something different. Not better, not worse, just different.
These digital composition portraits were each created by using the features of twenty-four different women in total. I took the eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, jawbone, etc. and rearranged these features to create a new face, a new portrait…a new person. Build-A-Beauty.
